In March 2025, authorities at Valencia Airport seized over 45 kilograms of illicit substances concealed in passenger luggage. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by airport security teams in detecting hidden materials during routine screenings.

The SAUST EU-funded Project is tackling these challenges through the development of advanced vapor screening technology. By improving detection accuracy, SAUST aims to strengthen baggage integrity while streamlining airport security operations, helping ensure safer and more efficient travel.

Through innovative solutions, SAUST continues to contribute to enhanced border security and safer air transport.
