From 16 to 18 June 2026, the University of La Rioja (Spain) hosted the 9th Summer Course on Intelligence and Security, bringing together academic experts, security forces, and technology pioneers. Organized under the academic framework of a University Micro-Credential in Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Cybersecurity, the specialized event focused on high-level operational strategies and digital advancement in public safety.

Highlighting Horizon Europe Innovation with the Guardia Civil

As part of the exhibition, project partner Spanish Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) hosted a central exhibition stand dedicated to the Horizon Europe research initiatives in which the institution actively participates. Located in the main atrium of the university building, the stand served as an interactive hub featuring visual displays, digital resources, and QR code access points to facilitate direct engagement with event attendees, researchers, and security practitioners.

The SAUST Project was proudly showcased within this Horizon Europe exhibition space. Its inclusion provided an invaluable opportunity to demonstrate—in an accessible, hands-on, and engaging manner, how SAUST collaborates with operational end-users like the Guardia Civil to advance chemical vapor detection, non-intrusive cargo inspection, and advanced data analytics.

By demonstrating SAUST's technological capabilities alongside the Guardia Civil, the project reinforces the immense value of cross-border European cooperation in securing trade routes, modernizing customs capabilities, and advancing digital transformation across Europe.
