A recent security incident in the UK highlighted how criminals are employing evolving methods to bypass traditional airport screening: a light aircraft was used to transport 30 kilograms of illicit substances into the country. Such cases underscore the urgent need for advanced detection technologies capable of keeping pace with increasingly sophisticated smuggling techniques.

The SAUST EU-funded Project is developing high-resolution vapour screening technology to address these challenges. By enhancing detection capabilities and minimizing reliance on traditional screening methods, SAUST aims to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of airport security operations.

Through this innovative approach, SAUST contributes to safer and more secure air travel, supporting authorities in identifying hidden threats before they reach the public.
